<p>A woman from Marimba in Harare is in police custody after investigators allegedly discovered that two babies she brought into Zimbabwe from South Africa had no official documentation. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Yemurai Gandari, was arrested on Sunday following a police tip-off. When officers located her, she was reportedly with three children — two infants believed to be about eight months old and a four-year-old.</p>

<p>Authorities suspect the children may have been brought into the country illegally after preliminary investigations reportedly showed no travel papers were available for the minors. Reports indicate Gandari entered Zimbabwe earlier this month with the children.</p>
<p>During searches, officers from the Victim Friendly Unit allegedly recovered a South African baby clinic card linked to the four-year-old, showing the child was born in South Africa in August 2021 and had received treatment at several health institutions in Zimbabwe. Police reportedly failed to trace birth records for the two infants, deepening suspicions surrounding the case.</p>

<h2>Old allegations resurface</h2>
<p>The arrest has sparked renewed community discussion, with some residents alleging the suspect had previously been linked to controversial incidents involving children. One resident claimed Gandari once had a dispute with her sister following a stillbirth, amid suspicions that a baby may have been exchanged shortly after delivery — though no police report was ever filed.</p>
<p>Other community allegations suggest a possible connection to a separate case involving a baby reportedly abandoned at a clinic by a mentally unstable woman, with residents claiming the child was eventually returned to the biological mother. These allegations remain unverified.</p>
<p>Gandari remains detained at Marimba Police Station under a kidnapping-related case reference while authorities work to establish the identities and origins of the children.</p>
